Skilax (Sulfolax)

The active ingredient in Skilax is Sulfolax (Sodium Picosulphate) which is a stool softening laxative taken orally.

Skilax Pharmacokinetics & Pharmacodynamics

Suifolax is chemically bisodic salt of 4-4'(2-picoliliden) - bis (- phenyl sulphuric acid). It is a locally acting laxative. It is metabolized by the colonic bacteria to the active compound bis (p-hydroxyphenyl) pyridyl-2-methane, which stimulates the mucosa of the large intestine, causing colonic peristalsis. It is usually effective within 6-12 hours.
